Zenit – Villeurbanne

Both teams come to this game looking to break their respective losing streaks. ASVEL has lost its last three games, including a 31-point thrashing at the hands of Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv in Round 11. Zenit is on a six-game losing streak and is looking for its first home win of the season; its two victories – against Olympiacos Piraeus and Zalgiris Kaunas – came on the road and in overtime. Expect high intensity between two defensive-minded teams eager to bounce back as soon as possible.

Zenit has a deeper bench and must use it to play with very high intensity at both ends. Zenit co-leads the EuroLeague in offensive rebounds (12 orpg.) but has struggled to dominate under its boards (21.2 drpg., 16th overall). Coach Joan Plaza’s team must run its offense through its most experienced players – Ayon, Mateusz Ponitka, Alex Renfroe – and box out to get going in transition more often than it did until now.

ASVEL is last in scoring (70.6 ppg.) mainly because of its poor shooting percentages; it’s made just 48.8% of its shots inside the arc and 32.5% from three-point range. Finding better shots will help the team’s fluency on offense. It must involve its best shooters – Edwin Jackson, David Lighty, Rihards Lomasz – on offense, so Antoine Diot and Theo Maledon not only must find the right rhythm but diversify ASVEL’s offense not to rely too much on its efficient frontcourt, led by Jekiri.

basketball prediction Tip: 1 (-9.5) at 1.90 with bet365
(Price correct at 06/11/2019, 10:30 CET, could have changed)

Khimki – Barcelona

Two teams coming off painful losses in Round 11 will square off in Russia when Khimki Moscow Region welcomes FC Barcelona. Khimki is riding a three-game losing streak, the last one coming at Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul 89-76. Barcelona saw its winning streak snapped at home against CSKA Moscow with a stunning 67-96 defeat. Both teams will be looking to get back on the winning track as soon as possible. Alexey Shved, who missed the last game for Khimki, is expected to play against Barcelona.

After a solid start to the season, Khimki has dropped four of its last six games. Despite being in not such a sweet moment right now, the hosts still have the fourth-best offense in the league (84.7 ppg.) but also the second-weakest defense (85.6 ppg.). The main task for Khimki will be on defense trying to limit the offensive talent that Barcelona boasts. The visitors are also third-best in rebounds, so that will go hand in hand with defense for Khimki if it wants to protect its home floor against the team in second place.

Petr Gubanov and Timofey Mozgov are still out with injuries. Evgeny Valiev will spend the rest of the season in Parma Perm on loan.

Barcelona is having a pretty good season but suffered another tough blow last week at home and it will have to demonstrate that it is a solid team by bouncing back swiftly. The team certainly has the talent to do that, but Khimki has better shooting percentages from all ranges, so the visitors will have to make sure to deny the opponent open shots. Khimki has better numbers on almost all fronts, but Barcelona has a higher PIR average. Efficiency could be the key to steal a win from Russia.

basketball prediction Tip: 1 (+3.5) at 1.90 with bet365
(Price correct at 06/11/2019, 10:30 CET, could have changed)

Fenerbahce – ALBA Berlin

After winning back-to-back games for the first time all season, Fenerbahce will look to keep its momentum going when it hosts ALBA Berlin, which is also in fine form with victories in three of its last four games. Not only has Fenerbahce started winning, but its last two wins both also came by double-figure margins of victory. It will be the first time these teams have squared off in over a decade; they split home win in the 2008-09 season.

Fenerbahce has won games when its offense has worked. It is 4-0 when the team has scored at least 80 points and Fenerbahce has averaged an unthinkable 54.4% on three-pointers as a team in those games. This week it faces an ALBA team that has allowed the most points in the league (88.4 ppg.). Fenerbahce is also last in the league in rebounding (29.2 rpg.). An improved rebounding effort that leads to good shots in transition could be just what Fenerbahce wins for another victory.

Jan Vesely suffered an injury and he’s being evaluated by the medical staff. He won’t play against ALBA. Both Nikola Kalinic, Leo Westermann and Nando De Colo are practicing with the team but they will be a game-time decision.

ALBA’s great ball movement has been a double-edged sword; the team leads the EuroLeague in both assists (19.8 apg.) and turnovers (14.8 TOpg.). To win in Istanbul, ALBA must cut down on its turnovers and get more production in the paint. Its 48.6% shooting on two-pointers is third-worst in the competition. Getting more balance would help ALBA’s already-strong three-point marksmen and could be the key to a second road win.

ALBA is missing Tyler Cavanaugh, Johannes Thiemann and Tim Schneider. Bogdan Radosavljevic, who was brought in to fill in for injured players, will also miss one week with an ankle sprain.

basketball prediction Tip: Over 162.5 at 2.00 with bet365
(Price correct at 06/11/2019, 10:30 CET, could have changed)

Panathinaikos – Olympiacos

This will be the first derby of Athens this season and of course, it is one of the most anticipated showdowns in European basketball. Panathinaikos is on a three-game winning streak and comes off a 32-point win over Baskonia. Olympiacos is also in fine form after winning its last two games by an average margin of 20.0 points. While both teams arrive in good shape, it often comes down to who wants it more, as intangibles such as intensity, focus, determination and character are always critical when the Greens and the Reds meet on a basketball court.

The two teams have faced each other 15 times in Turkish Airlines EuroLeague history and Olympiacos owns a 10-5 record against the Greens. Three of those showdowns were in the EuroLeague semifinals. Olympiacos defeated Panathinaikos in 1994 and 1995 but lost in the championship games against Joventut Badalona and Real Madrid, respectively. Panathinaikos topped Olympiacos 84-82 in the 2009 semifinals and went on to lift the trophy. Olympiacos also swept Panathinaikos 2-0 in the 1997 EuroLeague Playoffs on its way to its first continental crown.

Panathinaikos is the top-scoring team in the league (88.5 ppg.) and ranks second in assists (19.1 apg.). It is shooting the ball with good percentages, especially inside the arc (56.1% 3FG, 38.7% 3FG). Playing with great aggressiveness on defense, looking for steals and deflections, will be critical for Panathinaikos, as well as rebounding well under its own rim. So far, Panathinaikos has done well (25.3 drpg.) and that has allowed Calathes to run the show in transition offense.

Olympiacos is averaging 77.9 points so far this season but boosted that number to 95.0 points in the last couple of games. It is still struggling to hit its outside shots (33.1% 3FG) but getting much better (22 of 48 in the last two games, 45.8%). Panathinaikos takes excellent care of the ball with just 10.2 turnovers per game). Olympiacos needs to force its opponents into more mistakes and run its offense through Spanoulis, Georgios Printezis and Nikola Milutinov, who can be unstoppable.

basketball prediction Tip: 1 (-7.5) at 1.90 with bet365

Baskonia – Anadolu Efes

Two teams in different situations will meet in Spain when KIROLBET Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz welcomes first placed Anadolu Efes Istanbul. Baskonia suffered one of its worst road losses ever at Panathinaikos last week, 100-68, and will look to bounce back at home. Efes is the hottest team right now with five wins in a row and Shane Larkin earning November MVP honors and shattering the all-time scoring record in a single game with his 49 points against Bayern last week for a 104-75 win.

Baskonia needs to bounce back from one of its toughest losses ever and it has to do it against the hottest team in the league. It could be a tall order for the hosts, but on defense, they look like a stronger team on paper and will have to focus on that with the support of the fans in Vitoria. Efes is an offensive juggernaut with the third-best numbers in the league plus a red-hot Shane Larkin, who just blasted the scoring record and earned MVP of the month honors. It will be paramount to try to stop such a talented and motivated player.

Efes will be looking for its sixth straight win against a team that could be hurt emotionally. The visitors will have to try to capitalize on that but also take care of rebounds, as Baskonia is the best team in the league in that aspect (37.7 rpg.). However, Baskonia seems to be struggling to move the ball on offense (fewest assists in the league, 13.9 apg.), so if the visitors manage to put pressure on the ball on defense, they might find the way to run and win again on the road.

Adrien Moerman and Bryant Dunston won’t be available against Baskonia.

CSKA Moscow – Zalgiris

One of the chief rivalries from Soviet basketball lives on when CSKA hosts Zalgiris. CSKA comes off a tough three-game road stretch in which it lost the first two games, but got a boost of confidence with a resounding 67-96 thumping of FC Barcelona. After making two straight playoff appearances, Zalgiris has slumped this season; the Lithuanian champs have dropped five straight games and are 1-3 on the road.

The key number for CSKA this season is 80. CSKA is 6-1 when it has scored at least 80 points. It is 6-1 when its opponents have been held below 80 points. Based on the teams’ averages – CSKA is fifth in the league with 83.9 points per game and Zalgiris 16th with 73.6, the 80-point threshold could be the key to victory again this week.

Zalgiris has struggled on offense this season and ranks near the bottom in scoring (16th, 73.6 ppg.) and assists (16th 14.6 apg.) and is last in both three-pointers made (75) and three-point accuracy (31.4%). There is no shortage of top-notch shooters on the team, from Lukas Lekavicius and Arturas Milaknis in the backcourt to center Jock Landale. Getting the team’s once-feared three-point attack back on track could turn things around for Zalgiris.

basketball prediction Tip: 1 (-9.5) at 1.90 with bet365
(Price correct at 05/11/2019, 09:40 CET, could have changed)

Maccabi – Bayern

The champions of Israel and Germany will clash in this showdown in Tel Aviv. While Maccabi will look to remain undefeated at home, Bayern seeks its maiden road victory this season. Both teams have been shorthanded in recent weeks with forward Omri Casspi of Maccabi and Nihad Dedovic of Bayern each missing multiple games.

Great defense has led to great defense for Maccabi this season; the team leads the league in rebounds (37.6 rpg.) and steals (8.3 spg.), which has led to it ranking second in scoring (86.9 ppg.) and atop the table in two-point shooting (58.2%). Bayern is second-to-last in offensive rebounding (8.4), so if Maccabi can control the glass and get its points on the fastbreak and in transition, it will be in good shape for a sixth straight home win.

Bayern is tied for the second-fewest three-pointers in the league (77), but is fifth in three-point accuracy (39.1%). Facing a stingy Maccabi defense that leads the league in two-point accuracy, allowing opponents a mere 44.2%, Bayern would be wise to fire up more shots from behind the arc to open things up and challenge the Maccabi big men to keep pace. Petteri Koponen, Paul Zipser and Maodo Lo could take the lead in that charge.

basketball prediction Tip: Over 164.5 at 2.00 with bet365
(Price correct at 05/11/2019, 09:40 CET, could have changed)

Milano – Crvena Zvezda

Two teams in different recent forms meet in the fashion capital when Milan hosts Crvena Zvezda. Milan has lost back-to-back games and three of its last four, including its first home loss of the season to Anadolu Efes Istanbul in Round 10. Zvezda has won its last two games, including its first road win at Zalgiris Kaunas in Round 10.

Milan has been able to break games open at times with its league-leading 42.9% three-point shooting, which also helps cover for its poor two-point shooting (17th, 46.8%). However, it is noteworthy that while Milan has made 48.1% of its threes in its seven wins, the team is just 34.3% from behind the arc in losses. This week Milan faces a Zvezda team, which thanks to the perimeter defense of Branko Lazic, Lorenzo Brown and Charles Jenkins, has held opponents to 32.3% shooting from downtown. A good shooting night from three-point land seems pivotal for Milan.

When Zvezda plays its best defense, it has a chance in every game. However, when it has allowed at least 80 points in a game this season, it is 0-4. Zvezda must improve its abysmal shooting (46.7% 2FG, 32.1% 3FG) and cut down on its 13.9 turnovers, which are third-most in the league. That will allow it to keep pace with opponents when its defense is less than elite. However, Zvezda must also continue to play tough defense to have a good chance at a second straight road win.

basketball prediction Tip: 2 (+8.5) at 1.90 with bet365
(Price correct at 05/11/2019, 09:40 CET, could have changed)

Real Madrid – Valencia

It will be an all-Spanish affair on Thursday night when Real Madrid welcomes Valencia Basket to the Spanish capital. Real is one of the hottest teams in the league right now riding a six-game winning streak. The last win arrived at Zenit St Peterburg, 71-86. On the other hand, Valencia saw its winning streak snapped last week in Belgrade with a 76-73 loss on the buzzer against Crvena Zvezda.

Coach Pablo Laso seems to have found the right key to press at this moment. The team is on a roll despite injury problems and playing at home against a well-known opponent could be a blessing and a curse. Real has a net 10-point difference with the visitors counting offense and defense, and the hosts outperform Valencia on almost every other aspect of the game on paper. If Los Blancos slow Jordan Loyd and Dubljevic down, they will be closer to their seventh straight win.

Sergio Llull, Salah Mejri and Felipe Reyes will miss the game for sure. Rudy Fernandez did not practice all week with the flu. Jeffery Taylor will play.

It took a while, but Valencia seems to finally be rolling in the EuroLeague. Despite its last loss, the visitors are in good form and will try to stay that way in Madrid. However, Coach Jaume Ponsarnau is facing a tough challenge against arguably the hottest team in the league. Defense to deny open shots will be key since Real has solid percentages from all ranges. The hosts’ 99.8 average PIR (third-best in the league) indicates that they do many things well, so it will be an important task for Valencia in Madrid.

basketball prediction Tip: Winning Margin 3-way: Any other result (any team 1-5 points win) at 3.40 with bet365

Zenit – Real Madrid

Two teams on almost opposite sides of the spectrum will meet for Round 11 when EuroLeague debutante Zenit St Petersburg (2-8) welcomes Real Madrid (7-3) to Russia. Zenit is currently riding a five-game negative streak and will have to start adding wins soon if it wans to keep the playoffs on target. Real is also in the middle of a five-game strek, but in its case the streak is positive. Los Blancos defeated two Russian teams at home in the double week, including defending champ CSKA Moscow, and will look now to complete the trio with a win over Zenit.

Zenit is in dire need of a win as soon as possible, and even if a game against Real Madrid is always a tough challenge, this could be a good chance to kill two birds with one stone: getting a balsamic win and sending a strong message. Zenit has an edge over the guests in assists and steals, so if the hosts play aggressive and fast, they could manage to impose their pace and run away with the win. Real has one of the best offenses in the league and is in a positive dynamic, so defense will be paramount for Zenit if it wants to suceed in this game.

Los Blancos will play their first game in St Petersburg against a wounded opponent. Zenit seems to be struggling big time and the guests almost average 9 points more per game, so they have the offensive edge on their side. Zenit has some of the weakest numbers from beyond the arc in the league, so if Real’s defense manages to push the Zenit shooters away from the rim, it could find a path to its sixth straight win.

basketball prediction Tip: 1 (+7.5) at 1.90 with bet365
(Price correct at 29/11/2019, 09:50 CET, could have changed)

Efes – Bayern

Two teams in different dynamics will face off in Round 11 when Anadolu Efes Istanbul hosts FC Bayern Munich on Friday. Efes is riding a four-game winning wave and it seems nothing can stop last season’s runners-up. Efes won its two games on the road during the last double-round week including a huge win in Milan. On the other hand, Bayern has lost four of its last five games and dropped its last one at home against Panathinaikos. The hosts will look to retain a share of first place at least, while the visitors try to get back on the winning path as soon as possible.

Efes seems to have found its rhythm again this season despite missing a few key players in the last games. Now back in Istanbul, the team will play against a team that is going through a tough phase. Efes has better numbers on offense and defense than Bayern and its main concern on defense should be Bayern’s third-best figure in the league from beyond the arc (40.2%). If the hosts manage to keep the offensive juices flowing and stop Bayern’s long-range shooters, they will be on their way to extending their winning streak.

Adrien Moerman and Bryant Dunston won’t be available against Bayern.

Despite a consistent start to the season, Bayern seems to have found some difficulties in the last few weeks. A visit to Efes doesn’t look like the best way to start a recovery, but the German champs have no other choice if they want to get back on the winning track. The visitors dominate the three-point shooting and the blocked shots numbers over Efes, so they will have to step up and do many more things well in Round 11 if they want to win in Istanbul. The top priority should be stopping the hosts’ guards Shane Larkin and Vasilije Micic, the main creators for Efes.

basketball prediction Tip: Over 164.5 at 1.90 with bet365
(Price correct at 29/11/2019, 09:50 CET, could have changed)

Olympiacos – Milano

It is a battle between three-time EuroLeague champions. Olympiacos caught some fresh air with a road win against ALBA Berlin and will try to win consecutive games for the first time this season. Milan comes off its first home loss of the season and will try to erase that with a victory. Georgios Printezis (12.1 ppg.) has been Olympiacos’s top scorer until now, followed by Nikola Milutinov (10.3 ppg., 9.7 rpg.) and Brandon Paul (10.0 ppg.). Sergio Rodriguez (15.2 ppg., 6.0 apg.), Luis Scola (12.4 ppg.) and Vladimir Micov (12.1 ppg.) have led Milan so far this season.

Olympiacos is struggling to score this season, averaging 76.6 points per game mainly because of its poor three-point shooting percentage. Olympiacos is averaging 32.6% from downtown (17th overall) so it is up to its best shooters – Brandon Paul, Vassilis Spanoulis, Kevin Punter and Kostas Papanikolaou – to increase those figures. If Milan is still without Arturas Gudaitis, Olympiacos will have a size advantage in the paint with Milutinov, so finding him around the basket will be critical for the Greek powerhouse.

Milan has been deadly from three-point territory, averaging 43.8% from downtown, but has struggled inside the arc, ranking 17th overall with a 46.5% two-point shooting percentage. Milan will look for a more balanced offense. Getting Sergio Rodriguez and Nemanja Nedovic to set the right tempo and thus allowing all Milan scorers to get involved is very important against a five-on-five offense team like Olympiacos, so expect the battle for the game rhythm to be critical.

basketball prediction Tip: 2 at 2.10 with bet365
(Price correct at 29/11/2019, 09:50 CET, could have changed)

Barcelona – CSKA Moscow

Two of the most decorated teams in continental basketball meet again at Palau Blaugrana. Barcelona leads the standings and is undefeated at home. CSKA lost its last three road games and sees this showdown as the perfect opportunity to bounce back. Nikola Mirotic (18.5 ppg.) has been Barcelona’s best scorer until now, followed by Cory Higgins (14.1 ppg.) and Kyle Kuric (10.1 ppg.). Mike James (19.1 ppg., 4.5 apg.), Darrun Hilliard (11.7 ppg.) and Janis Strelnieks (8.7 ppg.) have led CSKA so far this season.

Barcelona has turned into one of the best-scoring teams in the EuroLeague this season (84.4 ppg.) and leads the competition in rebounds (37.6 rpg.). Dominating the defensive boards (26.2 drpg.) has allowed Barcelona to play fluently on offense, shooting the ball with good percentages (53.1% 2FG, 39.7% 3FG). As usual, running its offense through Nikola Mirotic, Cory Higgins and Brandon Davies will be critical, but for Coach Svetislav Pesic’s team, it all starts with defense.

In the opening eight games of the season, CSKA scored 50% of its two-point shots. In the last two games, however, CSKA has made just 28 of 82 shots inside the arc (33.7%). Being more effective around the basket is critical for CSKA, as it is powering the glass well (11.4 orpg.). CSKA ranks second in three-point shooting percentage (41.6%) and that will help spread the floor and create better scoring chances down low.

Will Clyburn and Dmitry Kulagin are still out with respective injuries.

basketball prediction Tip: Winning Margin 3-way: Any other result (any team 1-5 points win) at 2.90 with bet365
