Copa Africa predictions today – 02/07/2019

Copa Africa

The action in Africa continues and there are 4 more Copa Africa tips to consider today.

Angola – Mali

Two draws for Angola so far against Mauritania (0-0) and Tunisia (1-1). Unbeaen for 5 matches (3 wins), they appear as a strong contestant for qualification. Most probably they will need to beat Mali to make it, but it is not impossible to qualify with a draw. All 4 last games were combined with Under 2.5 goals. They kept a clean sheet in 4 of the last 5.

Mali is on top of the group and want to remain there. With a draw today they confirm qualification either as group winners or runners-up. Both matches in the tournament saw both teams scoring, a 4-1 win against Mauritania and a 1-1 draw vs Tunisia. Angola could prove a difficult opponent and Mali needs to play at its best, so I predict a type of dilemma of giving a rest to some regular players or not.

There will probably be goals in the game including a chance for Angola to find the net. Over 1.5 goal at 1.61 looks good enough to me.

bullet Tip: Over 1.5 goals at 1.61 with bet365

Mauritania – Tunisia

Collecting one point against Angola was considered a good result. But good enough. Mauritania will need to exceed expectations versus Tunisia and shock the African continent if they want to be part of the last 16. It is something hard to imagine looking at the way they defend.

Tunisia has been under-performing so far and will look to impress today. Mauritania is the perfect opponent to do so and I do not see this game ending with anything else but an away win. However, scoring 1 in each game is not what you call a team a goal machine.

The final score could be something within a 0-2 and 0-3, so 2-3 goals is my choice.

Benin – Cameroon

To Benin or not to Benin? Tonight we will know the answer. Benin has 2 points after drawing against Ghana (2-2) and Guinea-Bissau (0-0) in two completely different games. In one we saw what Benin is capable of doing (against Ghana, the strongest of the two teams). In the other one Benin wasted heir chances and could not break down the Guinea-Bissau’s defense. Will they do it against Cameroon? Hard…

Cameroon is 1 point away from qualification. They kept a clean sheet in both games in the group, beating Guinea-Bissau (2-0) and drawing against Ghana (0-0). If they stay consistent in the defense it is very possible they will have the chances to gain a second victory and win the group. One point could take them to 2nd place but even a defeat could not be enough to eliminate them.

Benin can prove a stronger opponent than what the odds suggest. I find it hard to bet on the 1X2 markets because the home team is a bit unpredictable. Therefore, another bet on the goals of this match is my pick.

bullet Tip: 2-3 goals at 2.10 with bet365

Guinea Bissau – Ghana

Only a win can take Guinea-Bissau in the last 16. They will reach 4 points. This has been a difficult group to survive in for a team like this. They could not compete against Cameroon (0-2), but kept the draw with Benin (0-0). Four of their last five matches ended with No Goal & Under 2.5 goals (and 5/6 of their opponents).

Ghana drew twice. First to Benin, 2-2, and then to Cameroon, 0-0. They’re not yet disappointing since a win here can see them cruise through. Ghana has a long history to keep and winning this game looks like a ‘must’. The Black Diamonds could actually finish on top if Cameroon fail to win. It’s time for proof, they know it too, not just us.

Ghana has a lot to prove but more to play for. I had to combine their win to at least two goals scored so that I get some descent odds to bet on.
